Carol Cassidy
I am a Scientific Illustrator specializing in Watercolor, Gouache, and Silverpoint. The shores of the Pacific in Oregon are where I presently call home. The incredible beauty and diversity of this area inspire me every day.
Silverpoint is the art of drawing with a stick of silver on a prepared surface. It is a Renaissance technique used by most artists of the period for drawings, because graphite was not discovered until the mid-fifteenth century.
Gouache is a medium preferred by 20th century illustrators because of its ease of reproduction.
I love the way I can layer watercolor, allowing me to achieve a depth of luminescence unlike any other.
